Notes marked as learnt

Understand it all, in four questions.

    Where should I start?

Start with “Getting started”: the treble clef notes inside the stave. Remember two landmarks: the G on line 2 (the clef curls around it) and the C in the middle of the keyboard, on the ledger line below. You find the other notes by counting from there.

    And the bass clef?

It’s the clef for low notes: bass, the piano’s left hand. Its landmark is the F on line 4, framed by the clef’s two dots. Middle C sits on the ledger line above.

Do you need to read music to produce music on a computer?

It’s not essential, but it’s a real plus: Logic Pro’s Score Editor, piano charts and working with other musicians all become much simpler. A few minutes a day are enough to read fluently.

Why do some clef symbols display badly?

The clefs are drawn with your device’s music symbols. On a device that doesn’t have them, the clef name is still shown below the stave.
